Liz Phair，全名是Elizabeth Clark Phair，1967年生于美国康奈提格州，刚出生的她就遭父母遗弃，后被一位好心的外科医生收养。也许是被领养的缘故，Phair从小就显现出具有主见和反抗的本性，就象她后来回忆当时全家人在吃饭的时候的场景一样，"在我家的吃饭的时候，如果不来一场嘴仗的话，会影响消化的"。Liz Phair是一朵盛开的野玫瑰，她的气质典雅不凡，又有着不羁的个性。少年时代的音乐修养成为了她如今创作的基础，很小的时候她就会用钢琴写曲，13岁的时候又开始学习吉他。这使她的创作更富有多元化的音乐元素。就是这样在无聊的时光中她考取了Ohio的Oberlin大学，主修炭画艺术，这时的Phair已经不满足一个无名的摇滚听众了，于是她拿起结他，开始了创作和演唱的生涯。 或许Liz Phair是创作女歌手中最漂亮的一个，这个似乎被媒体淡忘的名字是90年代地下Lo-Fi女性先驱，她使很多后来的模仿者走进了主流歌坛，却把自己拒之于商业门槛之外
